Impact Investing for Economic Sustainability

Kakamega Industrial Project

Global Green Link Energy is committed  to  sustainable Climate resilient infrastructure in Africa.  The Kakamega Energy Project is the first in a series of Waste-to-Energy (WTE) , Waste-to-Wealth power generation plants that GGLE expects to build in Kenya's  Lake Block Region  and Sub-Saharan Africa in 2023-2025.  The COVID -19 Pandemic that began in 2020 stressed the urgency of addressing the hundreds  of tons of waste, medical and MSW accumulating daily.

The project  is  one of GGLE's impact projects  and part of a global  effort  to Power Africa Initiative, and support the United Nations Sustainable Goals.

According to the World Health Organization, a quarter of all diseases  affecting mankind are attributable to environmental risks. More than  4.7 million children under 5 die each year from environmentally related  illnesses. Left untreated the  waste accumulating in open dumps sites are found  to contain high levels  of lead, mercury and cadmium at the site and surrounding  the dumpsite.   Kakamega County is taking a proactive approach by contracting with GGLE to build a state-of-the-art waste processing and recycling facility. The  Energy and Waste Processing Facility once funded is expected to take roughly 18 months to build. When complete it will provide 10MW of base-load power and process more than 300 tons of waste per day and over 3000 tires.

This  comprehensive strategy  helps address the  environmental  impact , poverty and economic viability of the region and the expansion of business in the Lake Block Region.  Revenue from the facility will assist in the building of schools, medical facilities, and affordable housing.   Businesses and investors interested in leaning more about  investing can reach us by completing the Contact US  form provided
